Wi-Fi and moving house

JeanScreen always keeps its own small Wi-Fi network (named like JeanScreen-B8A0) running, as well as joining your home Wi-Fi. That means you can always reach it, even when your home Wi-Fi has changed or is down.

You changed your router, its name or its password.

  1. Hold buttons 7 + 8 for 3 seconds to see the device’s Wi-Fi name and password (Hidden controls).
  2. On your phone join that network, then open http://192.168.4.1 (or the address shown).
  3. Sign in with your setup-page password.
  4. Go to the System tab, Home WiFi. Choose your network, type the password, and connect.

If you can still reach the device through the cloud portal, Configure also works, but it can only change Wi-Fi settings if the device is online.

  • JeanScreen uses normal 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
  • If your network name is hidden or does not appear, choose Other network and type it exactly, matching capital letters.
  • If the signal is weak, move the router or the device, or add a Wi-Fi extender.
  • When the Wi-Fi drops, the screen carries on: the clock, the tasks and the buttons keep working. Reminders play as a chime instead of speech, and the device catches up when the Wi-Fi returns. Call Carer cannot call without Wi-Fi.
  1. Take JeanScreen with you. Plug it in at the new home.
  2. It tries the old Wi-Fi, fails, and keeps its own Wi-Fi on. Follow Change the home Wi-Fi above.
  3. The clock’s time zone was set from your phone during setup. If you moved to a different time zone, open Device → Time & Date and pick the new place from the list, search for it, or press Use this phone’s time zone on a phone at the new home.
  4. If the new home is a different person’s, see New resident.
  5. Update the Call Carer contacts and test.

If the device was set up with no Wi-Fi at all, or you want to start from scratch, a settings reset brings back the welcome screens.
