Alerts and reports

JeanScreen can tell you things in four ways: a push alert on your phone, a text message, a phone call, and an email. Which you get depends on the contact’s settings and on your phone’s alert choices. All of these need the home Wi-Fi, and calls, texts and email are part of the Cloud plan (Plans).

What How you hear Controlled by
Call Carer Push, call, text Contact: Call Carer button. Phone: Call Carer alerts.
Daily report Push, text, email Contact: Daily report. Phone: Daily report.
Missed task Push; call to the resident Task: Notify carers’ phones / Call if missed. Phone: Missed tasks.
Wellbeing check Call and text Contacts with Daily report text on; Schedule time.
Room too hot, cold, dry or humid Screen and voice on the device; text, call Comfort Zone settings; contact: Comfort zone alert. Phone: Other alerts.
Device offline / back online Push Phone: Other alerts.

At the daily reset time (starts at 07:00) JeanScreen sends a summary of the day that has just ended: how many tasks were done out of how many were switched on, for example “5 / 7 tasks done”.

  • A push alert goes to phones with Daily report ticked.
  • A text goes to contacts with Daily report: text message on.
  • An email (contacts with Email) lists each task with a tick or a cross.

Per task you can switch on Notify carers’ phones if missed and choose how many minutes to wait after the reminder (starts at 15). If the task is still not ticked, phones with Missed tasks on get an alert. It is sent once per task per day. See Tasks and reminders.

At the wellbeing check time (starts at 12:00, change it in Schedule), if no task has been ticked at all today, JeanScreen texts the contacts who have Daily report: text message on and makes a calm “checking in” call to them.

It cannot tell the difference between “nothing is wrong, the person just did not press a button” and “something is wrong”. Set the time to suit the person’s day, and tell your contacts to expect it. If no contact has Daily report: text message on, nobody is told.

Switch on Comfort Zone in the Resident tab and set the limits. It starts at 18 to 26 °C and 30 to 60 % humidity. The device checks every minute. If the room is outside the limits for longer than your alert delay (it starts at 60 minutes), it:

  • shows a warning on the screen and speaks it (if Notify resident is on);
  • texts and calls the contacts who have Comfort zone alert on;
  • sends phones with Other alerts a push alert;
  • repeats at your re-alert interval if you switch that on.

The temperature sensor is a simple, low-cost type, so treat the numbers as a guide. A hot room is a real risk for some people, and they may not say so. It is a good reason to check in, but not a guarantee.

If the device has not checked in with the server for 15 minutes, phones with Other alerts on get “JeanScreen is offline: it may be switched off or have lost Wi-Fi”, and again “back online” when it returns. (The 15 minutes is a server setting and may change.)

Alerts that are too frequent get ignored. If any are not useful, turn them off, per phone, in Alerts on this phone. Tell us what is useful and what is too much.
