The screen works by itself in the home. You change things by joining the device’s own Wi-Fi.

Note

Which of the middle rows are free and which are part of Cloud is not settled. Today the Call Carer, calling and texting features are the ones tied to a subscription in the system, and the portal tells you when a feature needs one: “Remote configuration requires a subscription”, with a View plans button.

Local-only in practice

1. Set the device up (First setup).
2. To change anything, join the device’s own Wi-Fi (the details are shown if you hold 7 + 8), open http://192.168.4.1, and sign in with your setup-page password.
3. You can only change things while you are near enough to join that Wi-Fi.
4. Updates keep your settings. For a replacement device, keep a backup file (Device tab, Backup & Restore).

Cloud in practice

1. Create an account and add the device.
2. Change settings from anywhere. Settings are kept on the JeanScreen server as well as on the device, with encrypted backups of the last 5 versions (Privacy and data, Backup and restore).
3. What happens to the device when a subscription ends will be explained before you buy.

The free trial

The portal shows a banner while you are on the trial, with View plans. At the moment the trial applies once per device, not once per person. Length, price and rules may change before launch.
